News — art struggles

We're back for our continuing weekly adventures in art and business progress! (Last week here.) This past week was not art-ful. I was feeling unmotivated and out of creativity due to spending so much of last month on social media, and not seeing huge results. I've been meeting with a free Score mentor for the last few months and we came up with a (seemingly) great idea last time: a marketing calendar to prevent being surprised by holidays & events I could base my posts around. This past week was busy and productive. I painted, prepped art for a new collection release, and had some big news. I'm continuing a pretty good streak from last week. I continued my daily painting with mixed results. Sometimes the dot cards fail me when there isn't enough paint for me to complete the painting I planned. I was pleased with myself for pushing through one day. My initial painting didn't look as good as what I originally envisioned, and for once I pushed myself to keep going instead of abandoning it for something else. It was a very uninspired landscape...

I accomplished my goal for this week as laid out in last week's post! I didn't miss a day of daily painting, and over the weekend I painted more than just that as well. I spent a lot of time on marketing (as expected), following up with my assignment from my SCORE mentor, which is planning & scheduling out my marketing. I'm doing it in 3 month chunks to get a better overall idea of what I should talk about. I'm back after skipping a week while I was out of town. Due to my trip, I accomplished little that's interesting over the last two weeks. I only kept up with my 100 Days Project, although I did miss a couple days on my trip, and did more plein air (outdoor) painting than usual. (Catch up on 2 weeks ago here.) I'm fully halfway through my 100 Days of Watercolor Monochrome project. I'm excited to be moving onto another page of my dot card, and hopefully getting to change away from the warm red/yellow/orange colors I've been with for over 50 days....
