Weekly Summary - Nov. 13, 2020

Alright I'm on a two week stretch of actually writing about the week's studio adventures! (Last week is here, if you want to catch up.) Progress!  I was able to finish one of my Seasons series last week: I have had this round watercolor paper for many months, but struggled to find a good way to use it. I was excited when I stumbled upon this idea last week. Then I struggled with how to differentiate between spring/summer with just color, since in general I associate green & blue with each season. I think the addition of yellow helped brighten up the...

Race to the Bottom

The more I read about the business side of art, the more convinced I am that working for free or "for exposure" just screws artists over. I believe in an ethos that goes by many names, such as "fuck you, pay me" or "freelance isn't free." Anyone who doesn't charge for their work is hurting the rest of us. Nothing Can Compare

We had a brief spate of super cold weather, and even our first snow, last month. But now we're back to lovely, perfect fall weather: warm, sunny days with chilly nights. It's absolutely gorgeous living in an area where the leaves change colors. It's heart-achingly beautiful to walk or drive around and see the amazing variety nature creates all on its own every year.Beautiful bright trees in front of a a perfect cerulean sky, or even cloudy days where the subdued light seems to make the trees on my street glow from within. The fallen leaves with their wonderful range...

"Pure Enjoyment" Art Show

I submitted and had 3 pieces selected for the Pure Enjoyment Art Show 2020 hosted by Brewer Science! The event is totally virtual this year, so you can view the entire show on their website now through the end of October. There's an interactive virtual gallery at the bottom of the page, so to jump straight to my works, click in the top right corner on the layout map, then move the view to see the north wall. You can click on them for more information, such as if they were created by palette knife, and they're also for sale through...
