"Pure Enjoyment" Art Show

I submitted and had 3 pieces selected for the Pure Enjoyment Art Show 2020 hosted by Brewer Science! The event is totally virtual this year, so you can view the entire show on their website now through the end of October. There's an interactive virtual gallery at the bottom of the page, so to jump straight to my works, click in the top right corner on the layout map, then move the view to see the north wall. You can click on them for more information, such as if they were created by palette knife, and they're also for sale through...

Color Bias - An Eye Opening Lesson

Do you struggle with muddy watercolors? Do you want to get brighter mixes? Understanding color bias was a major step towards solving these issues for me. Gallery Space at KCDC

I'm renting gallery space with Kansas City Design Collective, located in the Kansas City Crossroads!  I'm displaying & selling handmade, original watercolor cards and paintings, and a few sets of card prints. All of the art at KCDC is exclusive--I don't have these works listed anywhere else at the moment. Stop by the gallery to check it out, participate in one of the events, or purchase one of the works via the KCDC website!

So lately I've been trying to think really critically about my reaction to...

"Self Taught" isn't derogatory

around the web art struggles beginners

Deciding to paint somewhat late in life means I spend more time than I'd like second guessing myself. That nasty whiny voice comes up and wonders "what basics of design and composition am I clueless about because I didn't formally study art?" No one's ever actually said or even hinted anything remotely like that to me of course! My self doubt just seems to have a way of sneaking in.Being "self-taught" may still have some negative connotations, but I think a lot of that is fading as more and more of us become self-taught via the internet. The current pandemic and...
