Monotypes
The paintings in this collection are watercolor monotypes. Monotype is a printing process where a single print is taken from ink or paint spread on a flat surface. Each painting is a unique piece of art with subtle variations.
For these paintings I spread watercolor pigment on a battered, nonstick baking sheet and press paper into them to create surprising and beautiful effects. I take up to 3 more prints from the watercolor paint, called ghost prints, as each one is a little lighter and different than the one before.
